Johnny Cashの死後にリリースされた未発表トラックを中心としたBOXセット。
"American IV: The Man Comes Around"との出会いは衝撃的だった。
カントリーなんて馬鹿にしながらNick Caveなどロック系のアーティストが参加していたので聴いてみたのに、彼らよりもすごい存在感を示したJohnny Cashにすっかりやられてしまった。
このBOXでもJohnny Cashの渋い声がたっぷり聴ける。
それに加えて、しんみり聴いてしまったのは、Joe Strummerとの共演の"Redemption Song"だった。
付属のTEXTにJohnnyがJoe Strummerのことを語っていた様子が、Rosanne Cashの言葉によって書かれていた。
Rosanne Cash: Dad and I talked a bit about Joe Strummer the other night. He said, "He was the sweetest, gentlest man, it was such a shock that he died" - and Dad very seldom recounts experiences; he's usually thinking about what he's going to create next.
二人がこの世を去る前に、素敵な共演を残してくれてよかったと、あらためて感じた。
